Jon Stewart and Tavis Smiley
Jon Stewart and Tavis Smiley

A couple of days ago I was hanging out with two great guys and great friends of mine, Jon Stewart and Tavis Smiley. These two men just delight me. I hang out with them all the time. I love people who are bright, fun and intelligent and who have big hearts. Whether it’s their wit and brilliance, their passion, their unique and vibrant interests or their secret smiles, I just love them. They are in my home all the time and I am so glad to have them in my life.

Now, Jon Stewart is releasing his new film, “Rosewater,” and Tavis Smiley just released his new book, “Death of a King.” They both have a unique brilliance that becomes a gift to us all. And they have such versatility!

Jon Stewart can come into my home any time! He can talk about anything! He can interview almost anyone and still keep his wit, humor and wisdom about him. You know where he stands and still, he is honoring of those he interviews even when he disagrees with their point of view. He does ask them great, poignant and fun questions and brings the humor or irony or absurdity into the conversation. That is genuine generosity. In this world, that is amazing!

Tavis Smiley brings his passion and joy into my home. I love this guy’s laugh. You can see that his joy and heart drive him. His eyes light up. When he interviews artists, you can see their soul shine and you can see how much Tavis loves the arts and the artists. Of course, he is politically astute, brings forward brilliant perspectives and he also introduces a deep passion for those who deserve to be acknowledged.

Okay, so Tavis Smiley and Jon Stewart don’t know me. I watch their shows and interviews and read their books. I admire and enjoy them and I am really happy that we live in the same world at the same time! I do consider them friends and love to hang out with them when I can.

Who do you invite into your home?
Who you invite into your home, influences your life. Who you invite into your home, influences your family and your well-being. If you invite creative, healing, intelligent, caring and informed people into your home, you share in that experience and learning. If you invite people or entertainment that is negative, then you are filling your life and your home with that negativity. That negativity or positivity influences your life, your thoughts and your environment for much longer than those brief moments of entertainment.

Creating positive memories and triggers.
You see, our memories and brain patterns hold these experiences for a really long time. So whether you remember that film or commentator today, it all still exists in parts of your brain and energy field. I may not remember the names of programs or films I saw when I was younger, but there are images that still stick with me. There are images from my childhood that remain part of my visual repertoire. I remember a lot of different music from different eras and genres. I read Nietzsch’s books, “Beyond Good and Evil” and “Thus Spoke Zarathustra” when I was 10 years old. I found them in my house and read them. Those books remain with me. I carry scenes from old documentaries about WWII. I have snippets from old comedy routines. I remember conversations, rituals and events. All of that influences me to this day, even if I don’t remember when I saw it, when I heard it or who even sang that song, wrote that book or directed that film. And all of this influences me (and YOU) almost as much as our childhood, our schooling and our present life.

So while dear Joan Rivers asked, “Who are you wearing?” I’d like to ask, “Who are you inviting into your home?” What new friends do you have, like Jon Stewart and Tavis Smiley, that uplift your life? What books are you reading that bring something new and wonderful to you? What are you listening to? Which films are you watching? What art are you seeing?

I’m suggesting that if you keep track of who and what invite into your home, you can uplift your own life. When you invite great friends, wonderful art, uplifting and powerful books, courses and teachers into your life you will experience more joy, gain more wisdom, hope and possibility and start living inspired.

Thank you for this reminder, Lumari. Choosing to allow things and people in your life that are artistically inspiring and help you look for and see rainbows is key to streaming in the grand flow of the universe. “Just flow through, just flow through” is what I have been hearing in my head as I experience a bit of a storm here. And now your message on rainbows and uplifting people has helped me to move forward.

This design is wicked! You obviously know how to keep a reader amused. Between your wit and your videos, I was almost moved to start my own blog
      (well, almost…HaHa!) Great job.
I really enjoyed what you had to say, and more than that, how you presented it. Too cool!
